iMERMAID (Innovative solutions for Mediterranean Ecosystem Remediation via Monitoring and decontamination from Chemical Pollution) is an Eu-funded project with a consortium of 26 partners.

iMERMAID (Innovative solutions for Mediterranean Ecosystem Remediation via Monitoring and decontamination from Chemical Pollution) is an Eu-funded project with a consortium of 26 partners.

The project aims to create, implement and promote innovative and reproducible strategies for preventing, monitoring and addressing the issue of toxic chemical pollution in the Mediterranean Sea basin in accordance with the goals and ambition of the European Zero Pollution Action Plan, the Convention for the protection of the Mediterranean sea against pollution and the Chemical Strategy for Sustainability, 2030 Climate Target Plan, and other EU regulations.

iMERMAID addresses interdisciplinary issues of technical, social and policy relevance innovating in Chemical detection and remediation, Health, Wellbeing, Energy management, Ecosystems, Citizen science, social science domains and it will be an opportunity to open up new horizons for the exploration of water pollution and ecosystem survivorship, improving the environment while also changing lifestyle conditions, and developing technologies by optimising the monitorization and elimination of hazardous chemicals.

ECSA will exploit the considerable knowledge and experience of its members to engage citizens, Mediterranean academia, industry, citizens, civil society organisations (CSOs), municipalities and to assess innovative results and establish tools for project evaluation as part of stakeholder engagement initiatives in the Mediterranean region.
