Citizen science and universities

The purpose of this working group is to advocate and support the embedding of citizen science activities at the university level, both for research and education purposes.

We hope to support universities in carrying out citizen science projects by:

  1. Strengthening universities’ citizen science infrastructure
  2. Supporting university curricula involving citizen science activities
  3. Sharing practices, templates, policies & training programs
  4. Mapping the use of citizen science within university settings

Members of the working group are citizen science administrators, practitioners and researchers based at universities across Europe and beyond. Our collective passion is to support and facilitate citizen science by raising awareness, writing guides, developing digital services, planning citizen science events, etc. In addition, many members of this group work to support scientists in their citizen science journey – keeping them informed about citizen science, projects and concepts, providing support in grant writing and project conceptualization, and assisting with project development and management.
