Candidate for the position of Chair
“I am one of the founding members of ECSA and have been actively committed and engaged, since 2021 in the position of Executive Chair.
Building the citizen science community in Europe and beyond was and is a main focus of my activities. In 2016, I was in charge to organise the First ECSA Conference in Berlin in a consortium of 16 partners. In 2022, the Museum für Naturkunde, where I am head of the science programme “Society and Nature” including the citizen science team, was the main organiser of the ECSA Conference under the topic of “Citizen Science for Planetary Health”.
My motivation to stand for re-election is to strengthen citizen science in Europe, especially on the political agenda, so that ECSA members can benefit from European funding and a strong European community. We see different developments of citizen science in different European countries as well as political and societal developments. Alongside these efforts, I want to strengthen ECSA as an organisation and develop strategies for sustainable funding for the organisation.”
