Teams of citizens and researchers will work together in a series of EU-wide hackathons to co-create solutions that can support the EU missions on Adaptation to Climate Change and Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities. The EU Sparks hackathon will take place in three stages:
- Stage 1: A series of virtual hackathons hosted by twenty-two EU-Locations
- Stage 2: Training and coaching sessions held to prepare the winning teams for Stage 3
- Stage 3: The EU-level hackathon final, where teams will compete for prizes in three categories – Best Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Solution, Best Adaptation to Climate Change Solution, and Best Cross-Cutting Solution.
10-12 teams, comprised of 5-6 citizen scientists and up to 2 researchers, will participate in each hackathon. A panel of judges chosen for each hackathon will evaluate the solutions proposed by the participating teams.
